Mens wedding bands can be special too!

Traditionally mens wedding bands have been either entirely absent, having been exchanged but never worn, or a simple gold band. Mens engagement rings have been an even rarer commodity! However, with men more willing to wear jewellery and new and innovative designs that are both masculine and appealing coming on the market and being designed, more and more couples are choosing to exchange engagement rings and wedding rings- with both partners wearing them with pride.

At Diamond Jewellery Studio we have also embraced this practice and regularly work with couples to create men’s wedding bands and men’s diamond rings that not only symbolize their relationship but that also compliment their personality, style and lifestyle. Take a look at our online mens jewellery collection to see what we are capable of and be sure to contact us should you like to work with one of our innovative and creative master jewellers to create your perfect wedding ring!

Black Diamonds – Distinctive, Rare Diamonds

Black diamonds are rare polycrystalline diamonds which originate from Brazil and the Central African Republic. Traditionally, they have been seen as unattractive for use in fashion and jewellery and until recently their primary purpose has been industrial with the Carbonado diamond used commercial drills due to its hard, compact nature.

In recent years however, the prominence of black diamonds in use as jewellery pieces has increased significantly and it is now a much sought after and fashionable stone. Black diamonds are typically a distinctive black or dark grey in colour with the best diamonds demonstrating a metallic caviar hue.

Black diamonds, like all coloured diamonds are extremely rare and distinctive with just one in every 10,000 diamonds mined being coloured.  Black diamonds get their colour from the presence of miniscule mineral particles such as magnetite and haematite and as they are so hard, they take significantly longer time to cut, up to five times as long in many cases and this, further adding to the value of the diamond.

The most famous black diamond, the Black Orloff or the Eye of Brahma, weighs 67ct and sold for auction at Sotheby’s in 1995 for US$1.5 million.

Australian-based diamond experts announce new international standard in diamond perfection

The highest International Certification for round brilliant diamonds is now “TripleEx H&A™” – the world’s most perfectly cut Hearts and Arrows diamonds.

The Australian-owned Diamond Jewellery Studio group recently announced the new certification after several years’ research and development. Based in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and as a member of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses it is connected to every international diamond database as well as all DeBeers DTC sightholder diamond inventories.

“Our clients are more discerning and far better informed about diamond quality than the average buyer” commented Diamond Jewellery Studio’s Managing Director, Nick Ireland. “Their knowledge and feedback has helped us create the new higher TripleEx H&A™ Certification.”

Already certified with GIA and being given Ex/Ex/Ex for cut, polish and symmetry, a TripleEx H&A™ diamond must have accurate table and depth percentages, crown and pavilion depths and angles that are perfect for achieving the ultimate cut proportions. They are then carefully studied under a special H&A Scope to check the quality and crispness of the diamond’s unique Hearts and Arrows formation.

Finally, the diamond is viewed through an Aset Scope to determine its light return and brilliance. Only then, if the diamond passes these strict criteria, will it be laser inscribed with the TripleEx H&A™ logo. It will then have printed, its own, TripleEx H&A™ certificate, showing images of its unique hearts and arrows formation and its Aset scope image showing its scintillating light return.

“Mr Ireland added: “Each TripleEx H&A™ diamond is unique – one-in-the-world. It is presented in a beautifully crafted, hand made ‘Black Box’ with a hearts and arrows viewer inside, so the new owner can show her family and friends that she has, indeed, the worlds most perfectly cut hearts and arrows diamond.”

“When it comes to fitting their TripleEx H&A™ diamond we dedicate one Master Jeweller to them for the entire process – from design to finish, hence our unique brand promise of……

“One diamond.  One person.  One ring.”

Interviews and photo opportunities can be arranged at the Diamond Jewellery Studio Sydney or Brisbane.

TripleEx H&A™ Diamonds

The Worlds most Perfectly cut Hearts and Arrows Round Brilliant Diamonds.

TripleEx H&A™ Diamonds

What is a TripleEx H&A™ Diamond? We all want the best diamond money can buy. For us to know we are buying the best diamond we have to understand ‘ What is the best diamond?’ It has become quite confusing with the major international diamond grading laboratories using very different systems to come up with ‘The perfect Ideal Cut Diamond’ For example, a GIA certified triple excellent diamond can be way outside the boundaries set by HRD to receive triple excellent. The diamond may get a rating of triple excellent yet may not show hearts and arrows when viewed under a hearts and arrows viewer. Less than one percent of all diamonds being manufactured today can be considered a true Hearts and Arrows diamond.

TripleEx H&A™Hearts and Arrows diamonds are round brilliant diamonds with special patterns visible under specific lighting conditions. The Hearts and Arrows effect is achieved by cutting, aligning, and positioning all of a diamonds 58 facets to perfection and can be viewed through a Hearts and Arrows viewer. They consist of eight hearts when viewed from the pavilion side and eight arrows when viewed from the crown side. The Hearts and Arrows pattern is very sensitive to symmetrical imperfections. Because of the high degree of symmetry and the limited proportion sets for which the patterns are visible a premium price is paid  for Hearts and Arrows diamonds. The appearance of the pattern is a strong indicator of a top quality cut but there are varying degrees of the perfection and crispness of the Hearts and Arrows patterns. A TripleEx H&A™ Hearts and Arrows Diamond requires almost twice the amount of time to cut and polish as compared with a commercial round brilliant diamond.

TripleEx H&A™ diamonds are superb Ideal cut diamonds showing perfectly crisp Hearts and Arrows , exceptional brilliance and are accompanied with either GIA,HRD or IGI triple excellent certificates or AGS triple 0 certificates.

All TripleEx H&A™ diamonds are laser inscribed with the TripleEx H&A™ logo and are accompanied with a TripleEx H&A™ certificate.

The Diamond Solitaire Ring: How Engaging

Getting down on one knee, holding out the tiny box, waiting to see the look on her face when you ask for her hand in marriage . . . These are all scenes you’ll want to remember after you propose marriage to your sweetheart. It’s not only a romantic occasion, it’s one that neither you nor she will ever forget. So along with the moment, you need a beautiful solitaire diamond ring to put in that tiny box for her to open.

A diamond solitaire ring is just one style of many that you can chose from for an engagement ring, but it tends to be a popular choice. Known for its stunning presence and breathtaking beauty, diamond solitaire rings are a classic. Featuring a single but remarkable diamond, a diamond solitaire ring is simple, sophisticated, and elegant – just want she wants.

Another trend in the diamond solitaire ring industry is purchasing platinum diamond solitaire rings as engagement rings. The platinum band is generally more expensive than a white gold band, and tends to be a bit more sturdy. But for engagement rings either platinum or white gold is acceptable.

So how do you know what kind of diamond solitaire ring to choose? Round solitaires are popular and classic. The princess cut diamond solitaires are square-shaped. They can be fragile if the setting does not protect the diamond’s corners. The emerald solitaire is also popular – it’s a rectangular shaped diamond. The marquise solitaire is a slender diamond with tapered ends, resembling the actual shape of a diamond. Another popular choice is the oval solitaire, more elongated than the round diamond.

With these options it might seem overwhelming when it comes time to decide which diamond solitaire to chose. But take your time. It’s a once in a lifetime moment, so make it count.
